In Student Media, students have the opportunity to make their voices heard through a variety of newspapers and literary journals, radio and TV broadcasts. They also engage creatively in leadership training, explore contemporary media, make decisions for their organizations and the Student Media unit, learn organizational development skills and how to manage an organization's financial transactions.

Student Media offers training in media law, advising and support services, facilities, equipment and pre-professional training to more that 800 UC Santa Cruz students each academic year. A number of these students receive academic credit through other campus units, including the Writing Program, the Literature and Film & Digital Media departments and the colleges.

Student Media advisors uphold the First Amendment and support students' freedom of expression while providing training that helps prepare students for their work with print, radio and TV. The program offers a rewarding partnership with students' academic pursuits where they can gain practical skills and experience prior to graduation.

For more information, please contact a Student Media advisor or the SCTV equipment managers.
